Chelsea Vasquez, Director

Chelsea has over fifteen years of experience working with students as a teacher, tutor, and academic coach. Before becoming Faris’s director, she taught middle school English and creative writing at Rowland Hall, where she was awarded the Cary Jones Faculty Mentor Award, which honors those who demonstrate excellence in teaching, serve as mentors to others, and contribute to the school community. Prior to moving to Utah, Chelsea lived and taught in the Boston area. Chelsea earned her B.A. in English in 2010 from Trinity College in Connecticut and her M.Ed. from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education shortly after. Her goal as a tutor is for her students to feel successful as learners and communicators. She is skilled at helping students develop confidence to advocate for themselves and find their own voice so they can explore the curiosities that excite them. Chelsea lives in Summit Park. In her free time, she loves to play outside, skiing, biking, hiking with her puppy, and reading in the sunshine.

Faris Education was named after Nancy's grandmother, Alice.  She was the only other teacher in Nancy's extended family, and Faris was her maiden name.  The photo at the right is a desk from her classroom in the 1940's.

Nancy Robinson, Founder

Faris Education was created by Nancy Robinson. A native of Los Angeles, Nancy completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Stanford University, with the emphasis of her master’s degree in Education in Curriculum and Teacher Education. In 1992, Nancy moved to Utah and taught middle school and high school mathematics for 13 years at Rowland Hall, an independent school in Salt Lake City. She received the Teacher of the Year Award at Rowland Hall in 1996.  Also that year, she participated in the Fulbright Memorial Fund program, as one of two teachers in Utah selected to travel to Japan to learn about the Japanese educational system.  In 2002, she received a research fellowship from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, to further develop curricula, including a financial literacy course she created at Rowland Hall in 1999.  Nancy has tutored many students over the years in mathematics and standardized test preparation. As demand has increased, she has gradually brought other tutors into the company, whom she helps guide and mentor, to work with students in all subjects.  Nancy spends most of her free time in the outdoors and traveling.

About Us

For over 20 years, Faris Education has provided tutors for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in the Salt Lake Valley and Park City in a variety of subjects.  We do not have a one-size-fits-all approach.  Rather, our goal is to provide a tutor who meets the individual needs of the student.  We have helped students with their classes in traditional classroom settings, online classes, as well as standardized test preparation and college advising.  We believe that confidence breeds success, and our tutors aim to provide a positive mentoring relationship that goes beyond the academic experience. Please contact us to discuss your needs and to determine if we can provide a good fit.
